- Elon Musk said Saudi Arabia approved Starlink, its Internet satellite system.
- Musk made this announcement during the Saudi-US Investment Forum in a room full of business leaders.
- Starlink is already in more than 125 countries and develops quickly.
Elon Musk said on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia had approved Starlink for maritime use and aviation, expanding the already massive world scope of the Internet Satellite system.
“I would also like to thank the kingdom for approving Starlink for maritime use and aviation,” Musk told the Saudi investment forum with noisy applause.
Starlink, which is owned and operated by the company Musk Spacex, has quickly increased in recent years. Its traffic has tripled in 2024 and is available in more than 125 countries, depending on the company. The satellite internet service was crucial for the war in Ukraine and seeks to extend a list of constantly increasing nations. It is the largest internet satellite constellation to date, although Amazon is working on a competitor.
Musk’s comments arise while President Donald Trump embarks on the first tour abroad of his second term, flanked by some of the most eminent private sector leaders in America. Trump said he wanted to get investments of $ 1 Billion during his trip to the Middle East, and that the offers have already started to ride.
The trip was not free from controversy – the president’s declared intention to accept a $ 400 million jet from Qatar, for example, to legal experts and Bipartisian politicians concerned.
