An exit before the deadline in the middle of a crisis
Elon Musk has officially left the Government Ministry of Effectiveness (DOGE), an initiative launched by Donald Trump, just before the deadline of May 28 which would have applied financial transparency and the supervision of the congress. His departure was strategically timed, announced just after a major breakdown to the social network X. Officially, it comes back to its industrial priorities: Tesla, SpaceX and Xai. Officially, he left a faulty project that has not given significant results. This withdrawal arrives at a tense moment, because Tesla sales fall, X undergoes many dysfunctions and the promises of the Doge are not satisfied.
Promises not held and internal conflicts
Musk had promised 1 billion of dollars in savings during Trump’s mandate. The reality is clearly different: only between 150 and 170 billion dollars were identified, often by severe reductions in international aid and massive layoffs in the administration. These actions have practically had no macroeconomic impact, according to several economists. In Washington, Musk also alienated parts of Trump’s office, leading to constant tension. Donald Trump finally disowned him in mid-April in the running a tax manager appointed by Musk.
Musk to revitalize Tesla, Xai and SpaceX
In his statement, Musk talks about returning to Basics: Sleeping on Office Couchettes, stimulating Tesla production, launching starship arugula and developing AI thanks to the merger of X / XAI. He intends to reduce his political role after having invested more than $ 250 million in the republican campaign. Its declared objective is clear: to restore the health of its companies, starting with Tesla, whose board of directors quietly explores alternatives to its leadership.
Let’s be clear, even if it goes back, Musk remains close to power. It retains influence on republican legislators and continues to be consulted on issues of artificial intelligence and technological innovation. The DOGE mission is supposed to continue, at least officially, without it. However, the momentum is broken and the organization loses its most emblematic figure. Musk thus joins the long list of entrepreneurs who thought they could reform the state as a startup. He leaves the political stadium quietly and has diminished somewhat.
