Media Capital Technologies (MCT) and the horror section finance and will entirely produce “Ice Cream Man”, the new horror film by Eli Roth.
Roth, a master of the genre whose work includes the franchise “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever”, returns with the history of an idyllic summer city that descended into madness when a man of ice cream serves children for children with horrible results. Beyond this sparse teaser, the details of the plot are kept under the Wraps.
Roth wrote the script and will make an original idea that he has been having for over twenty years. He says the delay is because the studios have become reckless to finance him. The filmmaker launched the horror section earlier this year in order to make the kind of independent frightening films that made him famous.
Roth will also produce “Ice Cream Man” alongside Christopher Woodrow from MCT and Raj Singh and Kate Harrison de Cream. Executive producers include Connor Digregio and Eli Massillon from MCT and Jon Schnaars of the horror section.
WME Independent will represent the international rights of the film and will present it to buyers in Cannes. The horror section has American rights on the film and provides for a large theatrical release during the second quarter of 2026. The shooting should start this summer in Canada.

“Ice Cream Man” will be the beginnings of MCT as a financier of independent film projects, an expansion of its role as the main partner of cinematographic co -financing of Lionsgate. MCT is a specialized financing company focused on strategic investments in premium content. A range of institutional investors, including Massmutual, supports the company and its investment activities.
In March 2025, Roth, in partnership with MCT, launched the horror section by emphasizing the construction of a solid intellectual property library. The company will produce, acquire and distribute a wide range of content, including independent theatrical films, television series, games, podcasts and live events. MCT provides strategic support through business financing, project financing and daily operational management.
Roth credits include “the house with a clock in its walls”, “Knock Knock” and “Thanksgiving”.
The horror section recently announced its first acquisition of major films with the “Jimmy and Sgggs” led by Joe Begos, which takes place for a large theatrical outing in August 2025.
