Eleanor Bowles, 77, stabbed to death in her home in car theft: Atlanta police

Atlanta police are looking for the suspect who fatally stabbed Eleanor Bowles, 77, in the garage of her home.

It appears Bowles broke up the suspect’s theft of his 2021 Lexus RX350 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Atlanta Police Lt. Germain Dearlove said at a news conference. She lived in a gated community, according to ABC Atlanta affiliate WSB.

Bowles was stabbed multiple times. Her body was discovered by her son as he drove home to visit her over the holidays, Atlanta Deputy Chief of Police Charles Hampton Jr. said.

“It’s no way for a family to spend their vacation, grieving and mourning the death of a loved one,” Hampton said.

“Our world has been turned upside down and for really no good reason,” said his son, Michael Bowles, according to WSB. “It was a senseless act.”

Bowles’ stolen car was driven all over Atlanta and has since been recovered, police said.

Authorities are asking the public to help identify this person of interest.
