He collided with Forest defender Willy Boly in the box late in the first half and ended up holding his arm before receiving treatment.

Ederson continued to play until the break but was then replaced by Stefan Ortega, who played the second half of the match.

It was a worrying sign for Man City fans who will want their No.1 goalkeeper to be fit for the final games of the season.

And those concerns will have increased after the match after the Brazilian was seen leaving the stadium with his arm in a sling.

His left arm was completely tied up and appeared to be in bad shape as he walked to the team bus.

The nature of the injury has not been confirmed, but manager Guardiola provided an update on Ederson after the match.

He told Sky Sports: “Ede is injured, I don’t know how long it will last.”

The City boss continued: “It’s not looking too good with Ede. We’ll see tomorrow.”

Guardiola will want Ederson to be fit for the final four games of his side’s campaign as they vie for an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title.

City are a point behind Arsenal in the title race and have a game in hand which, if they win, will put them top.

They face the Wolves on Saturday before then scheduling three games in eight days.

So having key players fit will be crucial, meaning they will be desperate to get Ederson back in action.

If he is left out, Ortega has proven he is capable of replacing him, recently keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.
