Speaking on Sky Sports, Howe said: “Incredible. I didn’t know what to expect today.
“Obviously, I hoped something really special and hoping that time is beautiful, but it is incredible, absolutely breathtaking.
“It’s incredible, I hoped that a few people would present themselves, but it is something else, you have people suspended from lamposts, outside the buildings. I hope everyone is doing well and stays healthy.
Howe, who has been in charge of Newcastle since 2021, thanked everyone at the club for the way they kissed him.
He said, “It’s very emotional when people bring you. You never know when you go to a new club if people understand your character. I am who I am and people have been absolutely brilliant.
“I cannot thank everyone enough in Newcastle, the way they kissed me and my family. I’m just happy to have given them joy.
Howe then addressed Ant and Dec directly as he said: “Thank you both to be here, it means so much for us.”
