Eddie Hearn lifts lid on Devin Haney’s next fight after Ryan Garcia showdown and names six-man hit-list including Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez

Eddie Hearn says Devin Haney will next defend his WBC welterweight world title against Sandor Martin, provided he beats Ryan Garcia.

Martin is mandatory for the American’s WBC and was given a withdrawal fee to allow the Garcia fight to take place this weekend.

Hearn, who has a long-standing relationship with Haney and has frequently promoted him since 2019, previously insisted the 25-year-old would vacate the green and gold bracelet rather than defend it against Martin.

However, Haney has since informed Hearn otherwise.

“I actually see Devin Haney moving up to 147 pounds (welterweight) eventually,” Hearn told the assembled media at Haney and Garcia’s final press conference yesterday.

“He scolded me last week because I said I thought he would quit rather than fight Sandor Martin.

“He’s already instructed me to try to get Sandor Martin to fight next because I think he wants to keep his belts, and I like that.”

After Martin, there are many other big fights for Haney at 140 pounds.

Joining talkSPORT Drive on Friday, Hearn outlined six potential fights Haney could land before making weight.

“In the 140-pound division, there are a lot of fights for him,” Hearn said. “You have Subriel Matias, our guy and Puerto Rican world champion, you have Teofimo Lopez, another huge fight, and you have Gervonta Davis, huge fight as well.

“You even have Jack Catterall against Josh Taylor, the winner will be in contention for a world title, while you have Dalton Smith and Richardson Hitchins as well.”

Of course, Haney will have to go through Garcia before he can win any of the aforementioned fights.

The two men will face off on Sunday morning at the Barclays Center in New York as they look to finally settle their bitter feud once and for all.

Concerns have been raised about Garcia’s mental well-being after he bombarded his supporters with a litany of bizarre social media posts in recent weeks, ranging from conspiracy theories to a video claiming he was dead.

However, “King Ry” was cleared to fight after undergoing a mental health evaluation with the New York State Athletic Commission, which Garcia says he passed “with flying colors.”

And even though he missed weight on Friday, the fight will go ahead as planned.
