Well, I had my wish. I asked, via Mail Sport, Friday evening for a history of the Grand National Randox, for something romantic with which the public could connect.

The best of all, however, was the bulletin that passed long after we were released on ITV to reveal that Broadway Boy and Celebre d’Allen, two of the 34 runners who had sought to have suffered serious injuries, had returned to a horse ambulance and were treated in their stables.
We cannot avoid the fact that the danger remains a part of the Grand National. These horses are raised to run and we know that there are risks, but Aintree has evolved with Times in a coherent way to ensure that the danger has been discussed.
