Defense activity
Business Insider writes a lot on dollars and hundred, the workplace, CEOs and the latest technologies. We also have a team of journalists – in the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore – deeply imbued with war, weapons and defense affairs.
Lately, you may have seen stories from Jake Epstein and Chris Panella on North Korean soldiers who are fighting for Russia against Ukraine.
Jake heard a Ukrainian commander who fought against these soldiers whom they essentially served as “barrel fodder” for the cause of Russia, and Chris returned to share what the West learned about this force of fight. In this quick video, Chris offers more analyzes with arrest images. And see the latest news here.
Jake also obtained documents detailing how US naval warships in the Red Sea conflict defeated drones without shooting. And if you are interested in a step back, Lauren Frias profiled the unique stealth ship of Lockheed Martin from the 1980s whose influence continues.
Sininead Baker in our London office recently wrote that the Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles program was in difficulty. Irony is that Russia once relied on the expertise of the Ukraine program.
The “Boot Camp” series of our video team is entering the high-octane training programs of military branches and law enforcement agencies. Graham Flanagan and the team told the story of a Filipino immigrant who obtained an accelerated path to American citizenship by joining the Marines, and how he succeeded in basic training.
Our expertise in these areas informs all kinds of stories, including drone drama in New Jersey, the Musc debate on the F-35, and the Trump administration plan for an “Iron Dome for America”.
Whether you are an expert in these areas or just as intrigued as me, I hope you appreciate our continuous coverage.

A few days after President Trump signed decrees to shake off federal workforce, Doge asked some federal workers which colleagues could be dismissed, targeting and encouraging employees who took payment to move to the private sector .
The effort to redo the federal workforce has been faced with a counterou, in particular a divergia of prosecution which has put early actions in the limbo. In the middle of the changing patchwork of directives, declines and official advice, federal employees remain rushing.

Autarters came. Then there were disruptors. Now Silicon Valley has a new favorite buzzing term: High Agency.
In the past year, the large agency has become THE Ambitious line of workers in enterprising technology. The Brandwatch analysis site found a leap of 500% of the use of the sentence on X, Reddit and other social media sites. It is not a coincidence of being a high agency is currently Elon Musk bringing technological philosophies to the federal government.
But is it really different from his predecessors?
The Daily Beast 2.0
Javier Muñoz for bi
During its 16 -year existence, the Beast acquired a reputation for its disjointed relationships – but it was not profitable. In 2024, long -standing media leaders Joanna Coles and Ben Sherwood have been hired as a co -owners.
After taking over, Sherwood told staff that the media was on the right track to lose $ 9 million that year. Since “Boanna”, the media is now profitable for the first time in its history. Its content has also been lighter on impactful journalism for which it was once known, although its new leaders say they plan to do more investigation work.
Our journalists take you inside the ups and downs of the recovery effort.
A new class of owners
Andre Rucker for Bi
Employers like Amazon, AT&T and even the federal government recover employees at their office with mandates of RTO, causing chaos on the housing market. Some workers must abandon the houses they bought during the remote labor top.
Nor is it an ideal time to sell a house, thanks to high mortgage rates and lower demand, especially in the South. Many potential sellers become “accidental owners” instead and rent their properties.
Be owner is not easy either.
