The Eagles of Philadelphia are about to finalize an agreement with Dallas Goedert on a reworked contract which will maintain the tight end with the franchise for the 2025 season, a source of the league confirmed on Wednesday.
The Eagles, who have passed the off -season to maintain their budget, tried to find a trading partner against Goederrt. The 30 -year -old was to be the highest fifth of the highest team in 2025, according to Over The Cap. However, an agreement has never materialized, indicating the complications of the trade of a seven -year -old veteran who has undergone significant injuries in each of the last three seasons.
The results of the NFL draft offered the first signs that the Eagles may have to rework an agreement with Goedert. Of the 10 choice of draft eagles spent, none was used on a tight side. Six tight ends were chosen in the first 67 choices of the draft, and the Eagles did not seem to be within reach of realistic selection of one of them. The team’s reluctance to spend one of its recovery capital of day 3 revealed how the Eagles evaluated the remaining tight ends and rather targeted other position groups to approach.
“Whenever we had the opportunity to choose, we were looking at the board of directors and really tried to reflect what it worked to put these notes should really be reflected in the result, so we did not want to fall somehow at certain times,” said the Director General of Eagles, Howie Roseman. “There were points where he was close, but it was never when we selected the best player.”
The Eagles have left the project without long -term replacement for Goedert. Grant Calcaterra began the last year of his recruit contract, and the Eagles signed the veterans Kyle Granson and Harrison Bryant at one year during the free agency.
The GOEDERT reworked contract will only be a temporary solution for the tight piece of philadelphia. The complete terms of the new GoedEder contract are not yet some, but the Eagles will probably distribute the GoedEder ceiling in a restructuring similar to what Josh Sweat accepted before the 2024 season.
