David de Gea shared a video of him staying alert in his old Manchester United training gear on Thursday afternoon.

The former Old Trafford favorite was carrying out shot-stopping and reflexes drills with three coaches.

De Gea, 33, was released by United last July and replaced by Andre Onana after 12 seasons as first-choice goalkeeper.

He has been a free agent all season but has vowed to get back into the mix and recently posted from the Altrincham training ground saying: “I’ll be back.”

In another video, which showed him catching drills, stopping shots and claiming crosses, De Gea left the caption: “We remember.” We are rebuilding. We come back stronger.

The two-time Golden Glove winner reportedly decided to stay in Spain and wait for a La Liga bid earlier this year, but his return to England suggests a more open mind.

Mail Sport reported in December that Newcastle were interested in him due to Nick Pope’s long-term injury, but had reportedly asked him to take a pay cut.

His last contract at United saw him earn £375,000 per week.

He kept 17 clean sheets in his final season, three more than his nearest competitors, but no resolution was found to a contractual impasse.

The Spaniard won five major honors with United, including the Premier League in 2013, and was named the club’s player of the year.

However, he was released and the club reportedly promoted Marcus Rashford up to the salary occupied by De Gea.

His replacement, Onana, who signed from Inter Milan for £47million, admitted to questioning his decision to join.

“It was really hard,” he told MUTV. “But it’s the first time I’ve been faced with such a situation.”

De Gea was United's first-choice goalkeeper for 12 years but left his £375,000-a-week contract behind this summer.
