Until now, two films have been removed from digital home projections of the festival after hacking and copyright violation numbers – people were circulating clips and key points for the two films; Neither has a distributor at the moment. You win (Unprecedented won the public prize, and Selena Won the Documentary Special Jury Award for the archive narration), and you lose (nobody can see your film until it is purchased). A sensual film with Dylan O’Bryan, UnprecedentedThe sex scenes and the key points of the plot were disclosed when the film won the public prize at the festival. “The film Unprecedented Was a victim of a copyright violation on various social media platforms, so the festival in partnership with the filmmakers made the decision to withdraw the film from the online platform of the Sundance Film Festival. We regret that online ticket holders can no longer access the film, ”shared Sundance in a declaration with Variety.
In the documentary on the musical career of Selena Quintanilla and family life, the clips of unpublished songs presented in the film circulated online, which made Switching to Sundance. The film, which is still trying to find a distributor, was the first film to be withdrawn from the Festival for copyright violation. Sundance explained the decision in a statement shared with the Los Angeles TimesWriting: “The Sundance Film Festival and the creative team of Selena y los dinos are sorry to inform our viewers that the film has undergone a series of copyright offenses and must therefore be withdrawn from the online platform of the Sundance Film Festival … We recognize and regret that it can lead to disappointment, But part of our commitment to defending independent filmmakers is ensuring that they can protect their art which they have created and earn their living – now and in the future. We take the violation of copyright very seriously and intend to cooperate fully with local, state and federal police. »»
