WASHINGTON (OSV News) — The Kansas City Chiefs were honored with a June 6 invitation to the White House by President Joe Biden following their Super Bowl victory this year. The visit took an unexpected turn as Harrison Butker, the kicker who secured the winning basket, took the opportunity to shed light on the most vulnerable.

Butker, a Catholic, partnered with Live Action, a prominent pro-life organization, to create a personalized tie that carried a powerful message and which he donned for the occasion.

It was adorned with the words “protect the most vulnerable” written in Latin and featured the iconic baby feet pin of the pro-life movement.

“I wanted to give a voice to the most vulnerable members of our society, the unborn children, in a place where efforts have been made to normalize the tragic end of their lives,” Butker said the day after the visit to the House. Blanche, explaining the motivation. behind her bold fashion choice.

Inspired by her testimony, Butker said he decided to reorient his life to center it on God. This new relationship with Christ not only helped him in his profession, but also motivated him to act more on his faith, such as serving the altar at the traditional Latin Mass.

Faith is not just something “reserved in private and on Sundays,” he told attendees of the virtual conference, and called life on earth a battle that can only be won by a “ complete surrender” to the love of God.

“Now is the time for you to take up your task, as churchmen, to lead this battle for our nation, to bring Christ back into our daily lives,” Butker said. “Men need to take an active role in our church, and I believe being a knight is a good start. … Your priests need to hear from you.
