Philadelphia – The Phillies did not score in the first three rounds for the fifth time in five games, they withdrew four times with the loaded bases, and their manager came with jokes after another victory on Wednesday. Rob Thomson A Edmundo Sosa, one of the hottest battlers in baseball, and he will probably not be aligned on Thursday afternoon.
“I would like to play it,” said Thomson. “I’m going to call MLB and see if we can play 10 guys.”
The season has five games, so the judgments are exaggerated. The Phillies won 5-1 against a team of Colorado rockies which seems to be intended for the last place, and they did it with the two lower men of the programming reaching the base six times. Sosa and Johan Rojas started because the opponent had a left -hander on the mound. Phillies are engaged in Bryson Stott as a second regular goal player and Brandon Marsh as an ordinary central field player. Nothing in the first week has changed this.
But it is a suspicion of proof that Thomson has levers that he can draw for the next six months if necessary. Sosa and Rojas may be in their place as extras. Despite this, these are capable reservations that can help a competitor to survive the milling of 162 games.
“Everyone is a very good player in this team,” said Zack Wheeler, who withdrew 10 to Saturday seven rounds. “And it is difficult to get into this team just because of this. Our benches could start a lot of places. They are playing very well at the moment. Sosa, he is one of my favorite players to look in the big leagues. He is playing hard. He is really good on the field, and he swings it right now.”
One of his favorites?
“Just the way he plays,” said Wheeler. “He plays the match in the right way. He plays hard. He’s just a good guy. So it’s cool to watch.”

Phillies have exhausted all Sosa superlatives, which is 9 for 15 to start the season. Its double of two points with the bases loaded in the eighth round exposed for all the star players who put the turn with the loaded bases.
“I mean, Sosa was probably our best striker for the five games now,” said Trea Turner. “He was on fire. He’s a good player. These guys were electric tonight.”
It was plural Wednesday evening because Rojas, playing in the center and ninth striker, went 2 for 2 with a walk. He worked for a seven third round strokes and distinguished the middle. He put a blow in the fifth round – to move Sosa from the second to the third – so perfectly that the Colorado had no game on Rojas at the start. He sacrificed Sosa at the third base of the seventh round. He took a walk in the eighth round.
“It was the best match of the major leagues to which he played, in my opinion,” said Thomson. “This is exactly what he should do. He needs to move the runners, put the ball in play, sacrifice and play a good defense. He played really well.”
“I agree,” said Rojas. “I moved the runner. I did my job. “

The Phillies had the optional Bunting training before Wednesday’s match. Rojas was there. The same goes for Stott, Marsh, Max Kepler and Kody Clemens. For years, phillies have implored Rojas to incorporate more bruant. He has never been comfortable with the art of sacrificing.
He practiced it during the winter ball in the Dominican Republic. He worked in training in the spring, and even on the days when phillies do not hold a formal bruant practice, he will take off the machine in the underground cage. Thomson said he would like Rojas to try a game game whenever he was in programming. So a good start.
But Rojas can be more than that; He posted a more controlled approach on the plate since the start of spring training.
“I let the ball travel a little more,” said Rojas, “and hit the ball in the middle.”
He will be back on the bench on Thursday, just like Sosa. Phillies will use Marsh and Kepler in the outside field each time they face a straight starter. But Sosa or Rojas could make his way in a sort of peloton – whether the second base or the left field or the central field. SOSA could be an option in the left field against left -handers. But the phillies are about to see a series of right -handed starters, so the opportunities will be rare.
If anything, Sosa gave the example of the bench unit. Maybe he would have more bats in another team. But he adopted his role. He found the beauty in it. Rojas is 24 years old, and he could still be a development player, but he will have to do it in limited gusts. He asked Sosa how to prepare. “Many questions,” said Rojas. They are not the most important players on this list.
But they count.
“I learn a lot of him,” said Rojas. “I just feel extremely grateful to play here and be in front of our fans. It is an incredible feeling to be back with all the fans we have here.”
