Duchess Meghan Markle dons stunning Oscar de la Renta gown for private lunch

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s official visit to Colombia continued with a special honor from the country’s vice president.

Harper’s Bazaar The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a private lunch hosted by Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez on Friday afternoon. The intimate gathering brought together distinguished guests, including government officials and leaders of international organizations and cultural sectors from across the country. The meeting aimed to provide a platform for constructive dialogue to discuss critical global issues, including creating safer environments for children around the world. Márquez also invited members of his staff and the Duke and Duchess’s staff to join the event to thank everyone for their collective work and partnership in planning this week’s tour of Colombia.

The special event was planned with Harry and Meghan in mind, with the menu carefully crafted to feature some of their favorite dishes, including lemon cake and chocolate tart, as well as traditional Colombian specialties. For the afternoon, Meghan wore a stunning Oscar de la Renta gown paired with Aquazarra heels and a Logan Howell necklace. Harry, next to her, looked dapper in a smart suit. Harry and Meghan both gave brief but heartfelt speeches to the room, with Meghan delivering hers entirely in Spanish. During their speeches, the couple thanked the vice president and their guests and shared how much they have enjoyed their experience in Colombia so far. They also expressed their admiration for the remarkable work Colombians are doing in education, mental health advocacy, and protecting their children.

During the lunch, Colombian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Elizabeth Taylor Jay presented the upcoming Global Ministerial Conference to be held in the country this November. The presentation provided valuable insights into the conference’s anticipated goals, including the importance of global collaboration to address violence against children in Colombia and elsewhere.

The event not only showcased the Sussexes and the Archewell Foundation’s commitment to global issues, but also encouraged healthy dialogue among government leaders to prioritize building a safer world – physically and digitally – for generations to come.
