Dua Lipa thrills fans as she introduces Australian icon Tame Impala for ‘unforgettable’ duet during highly anticipated Glastonbury headlining set

Dua Lipa sent her fans into a frenzy as she performed Tame Impala at her highly anticipated Glastonbury concert on Friday night.

The 28-year-old singer headlined the world-famous music festival for the first time this year, performing a stunning medley of her best-loved hits at Worthy Farm in Somerset.

It’s long become a tradition for headliners to bring out other big stars for duets, and Dua didn’t fail to disappoint with her surprise number.

She sent crowds into a frenzy by bringing out Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to perform her 2015 hit The Less I Know the Better in a top-secret performance.

Dua danced around the stage as she joined him to belt out the chorus of the popular track, which has racked up over a billion streams since its release.

Fans were quick to take to X – formerly known as Twitter – to comment on the “unforgettable” and “perfect” moment while praising the duo.

“I’m rewatching all of Dua’s Glastonbury performances. It’s really unbelievable. The production fits the dance of the extended TAME IMPALA instrumentals. I love him,” one wrote.

Fans expected Dua to invite Calvin Harris to perform a duet of their anthem One Kiss, but she kept the crowd on their toes with Kevin as an unexpected surprise guest.

Australian producer Kevin worked with Dua on her latest album Radical Optimism alongside Danny L Harle, Ian Kirkpatrick and Andrew Wyatt.

Dua transformed Glastonbury into a nightclub-turned-festival for a full hour and 45 minutes, singing hits including Houdini, Cold Heart and even a remix of New Rules.

Dua said she had dreamed of headlining the Glastonbury Festival her whole life as she kicked things off on the prestigious Pyramid Stage.

She told the crowd: “I can’t believe it, I’ve dreamed of this all my life.”

“And I can’t believe I’m here, here, with you guys, I’m so happy to be here with you tonight.”

The pop superstar opened her first performance at the festival with an impressive choreography to her hit track Training Season from her third studio album, Radical Optimism, released earlier this year.

Coldplay will also take to the stage for Saturday’s Glastonbury concert, while American R&B singer SZA will headline Sunday.

Country star Shania Twain will play on the coveted Legends slot while other big names including Charli XCX, Olivia Dean and Little Simz will be part of the lineup.

Organiser Emily Eavis recently defended the festival’s line-up amid criticism over a lack of rock bands.

Charli XCX also sent fans aflutter as she took to the stage at Glastonbury on Thursday with Australian singer Troye Sivan as special guest.

“I think the lineup reflects what’s going on in the music world at the moment – there aren’t a lot of new rock bands to choose from, if I’m honest,” she told BBC Radio 2.

“I hope it comes back, my peak was in 1995 with Pulp, Oasis and Radiohead… and it was great, but music changes all the time and right now that’s where we are.

“Every year we get criticized for being too rock, too grime, too hip hop, too pop… it’s just part of our year.”
