Dua Lipa levitates New York Times Square after hosting ‘SNL’

It’s a good thing Dua Lipa did all that Mermaid Barbie training.

The Grammy-winning singer — who made a cameo appearance in last summer’s blockbuster “Barbie” — needed all her water nymph powers to preside over a rain-soaked Times Square Sunday night in a pop performance -up surprise that there were still fans braving the elements to dance the night away.

He completed the Dua Lipa NYC buyout this weekend to launch her third album, “Radical Optimism,” which included her role as host and musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.”

And certainly, some “radical optimism” was needed to brighten up a cold, soggy Cinco de Mayo that felt more like Cinco de Marzo.

Even the diva’s father, Dukagjin Lipa, knew it: the former Kosovar crooner handed out $2 bills for good luck to guests as he entered the VIP area.

“New York!!” the Anglo-Albanian singer exclaimed as she took the stage inside a trailer parked on the northeast corner of 43rd and Broadway.

Flipping her burgundy-dyed hair like the former model she is – while being safe from any hair explosions coming from the sky – she launched into “training season” like a well-conditioned pro so that his gigantic portrait took control of the giants Nasdaq and Amex. .

Welcome to Dua Square.

It was certainly a feat to levitate the crowd – which stretched all the way to 47th Street – to any degree.

“Thank you for braving the rain and the cold,” admitted Lipa, 28.

And for her next turn, Lipa performed “Houdini” — the lead single from “Radical Optimism” — which boasts the same kind of dance-pop magic she’s created since her 2017 hit “New Rules.”

Next, Lipa shifted into midtempo mode for “Radical Optimism” closer “Happy for You,” which seems determined to prove she can do more than just bop.

But then she pumped it up again for “Illusion,” which had the trailer banging like a giant boombox.

And Lipa — who mocked on “SNL” about the viral “Give Us Nothing” meme referencing what some perceived as her lackluster effort — had energized Times Square before quickly exiting in her getaway car.
