Driver fatally stabbed, 3 hospitalized after incident on I-5 near Federal Way

FEDERAL ROUTE – A driver is dead and three other people in a car were taken to the hospital after an incident on I-5 near Federal Way.

The incident occurred on the northbound exit ramp to the SeaTac rest area, partially blocking the ramp.

Washington State Patrolman Rick Johnson said there were four people inside a black BMW, which was later confirmed stolen.

Authorities say two men and a woman were stabbed in the car and another man was shot several times. One of the stabbed men died from his injuries. The others were taken to hospital for treatment.

The Washington State Patrol confirmed the injured people were being held under investigation.

A firearm found at the scene of the incident was also confirmed to be stolen.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reports that the incident is blocking both right lanes and the ramp to the rest area. Traffic is blocked for more than four miles in Fife, with no estimated timeframe for the road to reopen.
