Driver, Dogs Rescued After RV Crash In Parked Cars, End Up Under Tractor Trailer

According to the Chula Vista Fire Department, a driver suffered serious injuries late Saturday night when he rammed his RV into a parked tractor-trailer and became trapped underneath.

The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of L Street and 5th Avenue in Chula Vista.

A fire battalion commander told OnScene TV the man was driving east on L Street and crossing the westbound lanes where he hit two parked cars before colliding with a 53ft tractor-trailer. long.

The RV hit the trailer with such force that it forced it onto the curb and got stuck under it. Chula Vista Fire Battalion Chief Brendan Barahura told OnScene TV it took 40 minutes to get the man out of the vehicle.

“Firefighters had to stabilize the trailer as well as the motorhome,” Barahura said.

Two dogs were also rescued from the motorhome. Video from the scene shows the two animals walking with officers with no visible injuries. The dogs were taken to a shelter, Barahura said.

The motorhome driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries, he said.
