More than a year after Glen Taylor tried to keep the majority control of the Timberwolves and the Lynx by canceling the sale of clubs to Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, Taylor ends this battle, paving the way in Lore and Rodriguez to become controlling owners.
A source confirmed that Taylor will not appeal an arbitration decision on February 2-1 in favor of Lore and Rodriguez, that the panel has deemed their right to request a continuation of the sale when Taylor tried to cancel it in March 2024.
The sale of the two teams will now go to the NBA for approval, with Lore and Rodriguez planned to obtain 100% control at a price of $ 1.5 billion to which the parties agreed in 2021.
Lore and Rodriguez currently hold around 40% of deductibles after making two separate purchases in 2021 and 2023.
Lore, 53, and Rodriguez, 49, have maintained a commitment to maintain the team in Minnesota since the day they joined the ownership group. Their statement after the arbitration decision made sure to refer to their efforts to win “minnesota” championships.
Over the past four years, nothing indicates that Lore or Rodriguez has plotted to move the team. Lore, a billionaire technological entrepreneur, and Rodriguez, whose successful baseball career was spoiled by the admission of drugs improving the performance that included a suspension of a season in 2014, will give a new look to the franchise after the 30 years of Taylor owner.
As for Taylor, the 83 -year -old man will have the opportunity to remain a presence in Wolves and Lynx games. The purchase agreement stipulated that Taylor, who also owns the Minnesota Star Tribune, would receive, free of charge, four sets of short, a suite and two parking spaces reserved for each regular season and playoffs for the two teams.
