News about the next one Dragon Quest III HD-2D Redo has been pretty thin on the ground, but judging by a short teaser posted on X In celebration of “Dragon Quest Day”, it looks like we’ll be receiving a lot more information very soon.
There’s not much to say about the teaser, as it features a very short animation of Mark of Erdrick from the franchise, subtitled with the short phrase “The legend of Erdrick approaches”. But above all, we get confirmation that the game will be available on Nintendo Switch in addition to Steam, Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
It looks like we might get a new announcement soon, perhaps for the game’s release date. It was originally announced in May 2021 with very little information to satiate fans since then. The last communication we received was in September 2023, during which series creator Yuji Horii said development was “progressing pretty steadily.”
Square Enix has used the HD-2D art style liberally in recent years, with games like Octopath Traveler II, Live A Live, and TRIANGLE STRATEGY all featuring stunning visuals.
