Donald Trump’s love story with Pizza entered his last chapter while the president has quietly opened a pizza in Trump Tower in New York.
Trump Pizza is “where New York’s tradition meets Italian crafts”, according to an article on Tuesday on the Instagram page of the Trump Tower. It also makes Trump the first known president to have a pizza show during his mandate.
The new pizza, said for the first time by Emily Sundberg in its substitution “Feed Me”, seems to be part of a recently completed renovation of Trump Cafe, one of the restaurants located in the Trump Tower. The oven on the Instagram photo presents the signature marble and gold aesthetics that Trump has become known for over the years, as well as several offers from the restaurant: Pepperoni, sausage and pepper pie, and what seems to be a classic Margherita with tomato, mozzarella and basil.
Although a full menu according to upgrades is not yet available online, Business Insider previously pointed out that the catering options at Trump Tower were expensive – and a little dull.
Coffee was closed at the time of publication. A receptionist at the Trump Business Insider bar in Business Insider told Business Insider that they did not know the cost of a branch at the coffee.
Representatives of the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
For decades, pizza was a focal point of Trump’s career and political campaigns; Indeed, pizza and politics have long since become slices.
Many politicians, including Trump, have made campaign stops in local pizza salons in order to swing voters in blue collar. They regularly made the headlines when they are surprised eating a slice with a knife and a fork or being seen delivered pies to workers.
On several occasions, dating from almost 30 years old, Trump publicly declared his love for the tasty Italian offer, especially in an advertisement of 1995 pizza Hut in which Trump and his then wife, Ivana, negotiated an agreement to eat their pizza the “bad way” (the crust first) to promote new crust options stuffed with the franchise.
However, his favorite method to enjoy a slice of cheese is not clear. After being castigated on the Daily Show to stack several slices on top of each other and cut individual stings with a fork, food journalism Serious Eats reported that Trump said he preferred no crust.
“In this way, you can remove the top of the pizza, you don’t only eat the crust,” said Serious Eats. “I like not to eat the crust so that we maintain the weight at least as well as possible.”
But, no matter how you cut it, it was just a matter of time before Trump had a pizza stone to call his.
