Donald Trump trial LIVE: Former president returns for secret trial as Supreme Court considers whether he is safe from prosecution

It’s a busy day in court for Donald Trump.

He will be in a New York courtroom today for his secret trial as the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments in Washington on whether he should be immune from prosecution for actions he took during his term as president.

In New York, jurors will hear additional testimony from David Pecker, former publisher of the National Enquirer.

Trump also faces a looming ruling from the judge in that case on whether he violated a silence order.

Trump had asked to miss his criminal trial for the day so he could attend the special session of the Supreme Court.

The justices will begin determining whether he can be prosecuted in a separate case for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election result.

His request to be in Washington was rejected by the secret trial judge, Juan Merchan.

Judge Merchan said, “Living in the Supreme Court is a big deal, and I can certainly understand why your client would want to be there, but a trial in the New York Supreme Court is also a big deal.
