President-elect Donald Trump said his longtime supporters Jon Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone would be his “special ambassadors” in Hollywood.
Trump wrote today on Truth Social: “It is my honor to announce that Jon Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone will serve as special ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as my special envoys in an effort to bring Hollywood, which has lost a lot of business over the past four years to foreign countries, BACK – BIGGER, BETTER AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will do what they suggest. It will once again be, like the United States of America itself, the golden age of Hollywood! »
It is unclear what kind of activity the three players will carry out in the new administration.
Trump has long attacked the entertainment industry, which strongly supported Kamala Harris during the presidential election.
Media companies and studios are preparing for the next administration and have tried to distinguish between the business concerns of the industry and the political positions of individuals in the creative community. Patrick Kilcur, who led lobbying for the Motion Picture Association, is leaving Ballard Partners, a company with substantial ties to Trump and his administration. Kilcur will continue to represent MPA and other industry clients.
