Miami: President Donald Trump entered a standing ovation and cheers of a host of thousands of people attending a UFC event on Saturday evening, shaking the hand of supporters against the backdrop of fans waving his Maga of the brand.
Just as Trump entered, he praised the host of Podcast Joe Rogan, who sat down to the right of the president.
On the other side of Trump Sat Elon Musk, billionaire and chief of the government’s ministry. Trump, who accentuated his dark costume with a bright yellow tie, pumped his fist into the air, encouraging cheers to strains to “take care of business”.
He brought several members of his administration team and the White House, notably the Secretary of Health and Social Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the director of the FBI Kash Patel, the director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and the communications assistants of the White House Steven Cheung and Taylor Budowich.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and American senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, also joined Trump for the UFC 314.
Trump entered the arena with the president of the UFC, Dana White, with whom he has been close for decades. He was also accompanied by his granddaughter, Kai Trump, Donald Trump Jr.’s daughter.
Throughout the fight, the UFC Jumbotron frequently presented the president, drawing roars of the closed window arena. The crowd periodically applauded “USA” and Trump briefly danced to the “YMCA” of the village of the village standing from its seat, pulling the crowd.
Between the fights, Trump would occasionally shake the hand of people who approached him and leaned over to speak to Musk, who sometimes held his son on his shoulders.
However, he was mainly sitting, grateful and speaking to fighters who would go against the net to greet the president.
The Republican President is a longtime fan of the UFC and a sport enthusiast, who frequently attended major fights. The combat of mixed martial arts at the Kaseya Center in Miami was the first visit to Trump’s UFC since he took office in January, and he came for weeks after Trump attended the golf tournament Liv sponsored by Saudi in his golf club in Miami.
In another nod to his sporting enthusiasm, Trump also attended the Super Bowl and Daytona 500 since he took office. He attended Cageside during a UFC championship fight in New York last November, shortly after winning the 2024 elections.
Aside from the president, the main UFC 314 combat event is a championship fight between the former Australian champion Alexander Volkanovski and the Brazilian fighter Diego Lopes, who participates in the featherweight champion.
This is the fourth UFC event in Miami, in a county that supported the president of around 11 percentage points in the November elections.
The president arrived in West Palm Beach on Friday for his 10th visit to South Florida since he became president, spending the evening in his field Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach. He flew to Miami after playing golf in his club in West Palm Beach.
“You know who will win? Dana White. Dana White will win,” Trump told journalists on Saturday evening on board the Air Force One.
His close affiliation with the UFC helped stimulate his presidential campaign in 2024 among young male voters before the November elections, where he promoted hypermasculine tones a signature of the campaign.
