Former President Donald Trump called the secret trial “rigged” as he spoke outside the courthouse Thursday moments after learning he had been convicted on 34 counts.
“It was a shame,” Trump told reporters. “It was a rigged trial by a conflicted and corrupt judge. It’s a rigged trial, a shame.”
Trump was on trial in New York, where he was found guilty of all 34 counts related to paying hush money in 2016 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
This is the first time in history that a former US president has been tried on criminal charges.
