Don Lemon launches into a rant about the NY Post after James Comer’s comment

It’s a bitter lemon.

Embattled ‘CNN This Morning’ host Don Lemon launched an unscripted rant against the New York Post on Tuesday after the Republican House Oversight Committee chairman called the paper ‘credible’ on his Hunter laptop scoops Biden during an interview with Kaitlan Collins – the Lemon co-anchor reportedly chided, as The Post exclusively reported last week.

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) discussed the upcoming House investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop and suggestions from the Twitter files that the FBI targeted stories related to the removal of coverage of the Biden laptop from The Post.

Comer accused the FBI of pushing to ban The Post, calling the paper a “credible medium” and America’s fourth largest newspaper. Most mainstream media, including CNN, criticized the Post’s laptop bomb before Joe Biden was elected president in 2020.

After Collins — who conducted the interview from Capitol Hill — sent her back to the New York studio, Lemon turned sour.

Poppy Harlow tried to interrupt Don Lemon’s rant about the New York Post.

“This is the time we’re in, where the facts are sort of flexible and you just throw things out there – quoting non-credible sources, like quoting the New York Post as a credible source and saying the facts are – it’s just, I can’t believe we’re here,” Lemon said.

Lemon’s other co-host, Poppy Harlow, who was on set, cut the rant off in an attempt to smooth things over.

“That’s why we have Kaitlan Collins on the Hill, checking the facts in real time. It was a great interview,” she said.

Speaker's Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., arrives for the House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing titled On the Front Lines of the Border Crisis: A Hearing with Chief Patrol Officers, in the Rayburn building on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

Harlow praised Collins, who was in DC covering Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, before saying bluntly, “Okay, let’s keep going!”

The music started playing so the show could move on to commercial, but Lemon persisted and refused to be played offstage.

“Please wait with the music on,” he yelled.

Lemon then claimed there was no “shared reality” with someone like Comer.

Less than flattering images of Hunter Biden have been found on his laptop.

“The American people are going to have to suffer through all of these things, from election deniers to people who don’t believe the facts, we don’t have a shared reality. And now they take center stage,” Lemon said, making referring to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who also serves on the oversight committee.

Lemon’s outburst comes days after The Post revealed he allegedly bored Collins for interrupting him on a Dec. 8 broadcast, which ended with superiors allegedly telling Lemon to take a personal timeout the next day. Since then, the couple has practically not toured together.

It also follows a directive from new CNN boss Chris Licht to move away from the opinionated left-leaning coverage that has sunk the network in the ratings. Last month, Lichttold told the Los Angeles Times its third-place cable news network will no longer be the focus of “partisan hacking” and “ideological talking points.”

The Post’s initial notebook coverage in October 2020 left the post locked from its Twitter account for more than two weeks. Since then, multiple outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, and CBS have authenticated the laptop hardware two years later. Even Lemon’s own CNN confirmed the material in a July 2022 report.
