Slovenian Domen Prevc has reached a new 254.5 meter (approximately 835 -meter) world record record on Sunday, to the pleasure of house fans in Planica.
PREVC produced the huge jump – the equivalent length of nearly two and a half football fields – in the second round of the ski world cup event, which marked the end of the season.
It was a meter further than the previous 253.5 meter record from Austria Stefan Kraft, established in March 2017, but was not enough for the 25 -year -old to win in front of 17,000 fans in Planica. This went to the compatriot Ane Lanišek, who won his second victory of the season with an overall score of 482.1 points for 475 PREVC.
“This is the sweetest story that even Hollywood directors would have trouble imagining,” wrote Prevc on Instagram. “Thank you, everyone for creating this story and for the unforgettable season!”
Earlier this month, PREVC won the world title of large hill in Trondheim, Austria, as well as a golden event in the team and money in the mixed team.
The Ryōyū Kobayashi from Japan jumped a distance of 291 meters on a natural ramp specially created in the north of Iceland last year, but the attempt did not meet the conditions presented by the International Federation of Ski and Snowboard (FIS), so was not recognized as a world record.
