Dolly Parton responded to the effusion of love and support after the death of her husband, Carl Dean, on March 3. By going to Instagram, the singer wrote a sincere “love note” to family, friends and fans:
“Thank you for all the messages, cards and flowers you have sent to pay tribute to the loss of my beloved husband Carl,” she wrote. “I cannot reach out to each of you personally, but I just know that it told me the world. He is in the arms of God now and I agree with that. I will always love you.”

The couple was together for more than half a century before their death at the age of 82 on Monday. An announcement was made the next day which included a short declaration of parton: “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words cannot do justice to the love that we have shared for more than 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and your sympathy.
He concluded with: “The family asked for privacy during this difficult period.”
