Doge’s social security violations send employees to the “death spiral”

The intrusion of the Ministry of Effectiveness of the Government (DOGE) in the Social Security Administration (SSA) sent panicked staff.

“Until they get rid of Doge and the person in power at the moment, and the Republicans get a backbone and defend something for once in their lives, things will just be full chaos,” said a worker The goalkeeper. “It’s really the best word to describe the SSA at the moment, just the full chaos and completely.“”

Social Security Administration (SSA) administers services to nearly 69 million Americans per month, or 1.6 billion of dollars in social benefits. The architect Doge Musk said that the entire agency was equivalent to a “Ponzi regime”.

Staff members said The guardian that DOGE plans to reduce 7,000 jobs, close offices and modify the IBS computer code could risk millions of beneficiaries who do not get their advantages in time if it collapses.

“They could not understand the coding, so everything they said that SSA did illegally, they were not,” said the source. “They don’t know what they are doing.”

The union representing more than 40,000 SSA workers – the American Federation of Employees of the Government Administration of Social Security – said that it thinks that Doge will seek to reduce even more than the 7,000 jobs it has promised in Nix.

“There is no safe office in this country,” said Rich Couture, Union spokesperson The guardian. “It is a concerted attack on the legitimacy of social security itself. The promise that this country has made to the public with regard to income safety is being broken. ”

Couture fears a “negative feedback loop” in which personnel cuts lead to more work for those who remain. This, in turn, will push them to leave “until the agency finds itself in a death spiral with staff, causing office closings,” said Couture.

“You will see a large collapse in the agency’s service structure,” he added. “The waiting times of the calls will skyrocket, the waiting times for the appointments, the processing times, all this will soar because there will not be enough people to do the work, which opens the door to privatization.”

Certain beneficiaries of disabled social security, as well as groups of disabled people, continued Musk, the Acting SSA Commissioner Leland Duck and the acting administrator of Doge, Amy Gleason, last week for SSA changes. The complainants argued that Doge produced the “systemic dismantling” of the organization.
