Does Lamballe-Armor hold the record for greeting ceremonies in Brittany?
Nine dates, nine places, nine ceremonies. All between January 6 and 19. In Brittany, no one does better than Lamballe-Armor when it comes to vow ceremonies. Next to it, behemoths like Rennes organize four, Lorient and Saint-Brieuc, only one each. Pampered the approximately 17,000 inhabitants of the capital of Penthièvre? Yes, sort of.
The big meeting of January 6
For Lambalmorican elected officials, the wishes to the population are akin to an intense tour of the central city and the seven delegated municipalities. The celebrations will begin at the Pierre-Lanoë Hall, this Monday, January 6, at 6:30 p.m. “This is the main official ceremony,” indicates the City. This is where the greatest resources will be deployed. We are expecting around 300 people. »
Consideration was given to reducing the number of ceremonies.
In addition to residents, parliamentarians (deputy, senator), local elected officials, stakeholders from the economic and social world, and even associative structures are invited. All municipal elected officials are generally present. An aperitif dinner is served there. Municipal agents are mobilized for the occasion. For two years, this major meeting no longer closes the series of wishes at Lamballe-Armor but launches it.
A marathon in two weeks
On the program next: Planguenoual, January 10, at 6:30 p.m.; La Poterie, January 11, at 4 p.m.; Trégomar, January 12, at 11 a.m.; Morieux, January 17, at 6:30 p.m.; Saint-Aaron, January 18, at 11 a.m. and Maroué, the same day, at 4 p.m.; Meslin, January 19, at 11 a.m. Added to this is the more intimate ceremony of greetings to City staff.
At a time when many municipalities, for essentially budgetary reasons, are choosing to reduce the size of this type of ceremonial mass, Lamballe-Armor prefers not to deviate from a tradition that dates back to 1973, the year of the first mergers of Lamballe with La Pottery, Trégomar, Saint-Aaron and Maroué.
A wish expressed by residents
“The consideration of reducing the number of ceremonies has been carried out,” assures the City. In the end, the choice was made to maintain them all so as not to cut the proximity link. This responds not to a whim of elected officials, but to a strong attachment of residents to this meeting. The wishes are, for the delegated municipalities, one of the rare moments of direct exchange between elected officials and citizens. »
Unlike the big rally on January 6, the ceremonies in the other towns will take place in the presence of elected officials only. Municipal officials will not be contacted. Philippe Hercouët, mayor of Lamballe-Armor, will participate in all and speak. Each delegated mayor or territorial referent will accompany him. And what about the buffet? Response from the City: “For ceremonies that take place in the morning or evening, there will be a free drink for residents. For those which take place in the afternoon, a galette des Rois is planned. »
