It is not only that the Dodgers became the first title champion to start 8-0, and did it with the Unreal Shohei Ohtani hitting a Home Run – during his Bobblehead evening, nothing less. But that’s how they did and what they overcome.
They did it with Clayton Kershaw, perhaps the best launcher of the generation, sidelined, and with Ohtani, perhaps the most talented player of all time, doing only half of his work.
They did it for a few games with the Superstar Mookie Betts fighting a virus that made it lose 25 pounds. And with the superstar Freddie Freeman Consuing his ankle repaired surgically in the shower.
They did it with a very limited use of the Torpille bat (only Max Muncy tried it). And they did it with the most difficult journey after their Japan series (tied with the Cubs).
