Dodgers honored in the White House for the title World Series by Trump

Washington – With portraits of George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt adorning the walls, and large golden chandeliers suspended from the ceiling, the Dodgers received the reception of a champion in the eastern house on Monday morning, applauded by a crowded crowd while waiting for their arrival for their celebration 2024 World Series.

When the Dodgers announced last month that they would visit Trump’s White House this week, while in town for a road series against the Nationals of Washington, he sparked an avalanche of fans and others in the world of baseball.

Three months after his second term, Trump remains a polarizing figure – in particular in Los Angeles, where Kamala Harris received more than twice as many votes than among the voters of the County of Los Angeles in the 2024 elections.

However, the Dodgers cited the journey as nothing more than maintaining tradition, despite the pressure of certain factions of their fans base to refuse the invitation.

“We are very happy,” Walter said on Monday, “to participate in the tradition of bringing champions to the White House.”

The praise started with Roberts, who was once the target of criticisms on Trump’s social networks during the 2018 World Series, but the president was informed on Monday that he is “one of the biggest managers, really, to wear the Dodger Blue”.

Then Trump listed several of the achievements of Shohei Ohtani from his unprecedented performance of 50 Homhermes and 50 flights last season, before joking that the MVP by reigning the National League “resembles a film star”.

Trump also underlined the contributions of Betts, Max Muncy, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Kiké Hernández, Teoscar Hernández and Clayton Kershaw – who also took the microphone to make comments and presented Trump a jersey of personalized dodgers bearing his name.

“It is an incredible honor for me to stand here today, representing the Dodgers of Los Angeles and this group of staff and players standing behind me today,” said Kershaw, who was one of the many other players in the injured list who flew to Washington to join the team for the event. “The Los Angeles 2024 dodgers season is the one that will descend into history books, always holding a special place in my heart and those with me, as well as millions of Dodger fans in the world.”

Before bringing the team back for a visit to the oval office, Trump also offered a prediction in the chances of the Dodgers to repeat as champions in 2025.

“After seeing how much you have succeeded this season, I can tell you that you can plan to be back here,” said Trump. “I hope you are going back here next year.”
