Arielle said in the file that she started on the ground and that Gerhardt had started to fight with her. As they struggled, she said: “Gerhardt caught her bag and released a syringe with an unknown substance, trying to inject me.”
She managed to grasp the syringe and throw them away from them, said the petition, but she saw that he was still holding a bottle of something and started looking in her bag. Arielle suspected that he was looking for another syringe, she said in the file, and it was then that she believed that she bit the forearm of her husband.
Gerhardt seemed to “calm down slightly”, alleged Arielle in the petition, but he then caught a rock and began to “denigrate” her in the head “on several occasions”, cutting her face and his scalp.
Telling to defend herself, said Arielle in the file, she suffered a broken left thumb.
“I shouted and begged to stop, asking him to think of our children,” she continued in the file. “If I had fallen from the cliff, I would probably have died.”
According to Honolulu police, two witnesses called 911 to report a man beating a woman. As the authorities arrived, Gerhardt had left and Arielle was transported by ambulance to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
