Do you still have hope for Days Gone 2? “It’s time to move on,” says Sony developer

Deacon St. John’s story will not continue in a Days Gone sequel. Bend Studio’s community manager has taken to social media to squash the “false hope and bad information” people are receiving about a new game in the open-world zombie franchise.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), Bend’s Kevin McAllister confirmed that the developer is “currently working on a new IP.” Additionally, in a reply, the community manager stated that it’s the “previous developers” who are spreading the hype about Days Gone 2, but that it’s “time to move on.”

Eurogamer reports that McAllister could be referring to former Bend Studio head John Garvin, who explained that Days Gone was meant to be a trilogy. In 2021, Garvin had already lamented that players did not pay full price when games launched.

There’s also been a lot of talk about what Days Gone 2 could look like over the years. In 2022, Days Gone director Jeff Ross talked about what the sequel would have added to the franchise, like Deacon being able to swim and using NERO technology to upgrade his motorcycle.

While there is no official name for the title, Bend has announced that a new multiplayer game is in the works for 2022. Days Gone was ported to PC in 2021 after launching on PS4 in 2019. Otherwise , there has been no official word on other entries in the series. For more, check out GameSpot’s review of Days Gone.
