Do YOU speak Gen Z? As Kamala Harris’ presidential bid gets called “childish” by Charli XCX fans, take our quiz to see if you can keep up with the TikTok generation’s lingo

A quick glance at social media might make you think you don’t know English as well as you thought – with Gen Z’s complex slang taking over general vernacular.

When you think of people who claim to be having a “spoiled summer” with their “rodent boyfriends” who wear “generous” outfits, many may be taken aback by what their younger peers are saying.

But it seems there’s no escaping the TikTok generation’s slang, as it’s even infiltrated the US presidential election.

Pop culture has baffled politicians for decades, but this week some tried to join in the fun by calling Vice President Kamala Harris a “kid.”

They launched memes of bright green squares, and when BidenHQ became “KamalaHQ,” a quick-witted and presumably younger staffer added the recognizable “kid” logo to his page.
