British ministers insisted that they are working intensely to achieve economic agreement with the United States which would allow the reversal of prices. But the Minister of the Treasury, James Murray, told Sky News on Friday that companies were invited to indicate the products where prices harm the least to British companies.
“We want to involve companies in this decision, and we must be clear that we keep all the options on the table,” said Murray. “We reserve the right to retaliate, but we want an agreement, and we are fully focusing on this subject.”
Trump said Starmer was satisfied that Great Britain avoided 20% tariffs on EU products.
“We have a very good dialogue,” the American president said on Thursday. “I think he was very happy with how we treated them with prices.”
Blair, a former Labor Prime Minister who dealt with the American Republican President George W. Bush for a large part of his post as Prime Minister, also expressed his concern about Trump’s weakened support at NATO. After the 1990s Kosovo War, Blair said he had tried to encourage reinforced European defense expenses.
“It has become clear to me that we could never have done it without the Americans. I said to myself:” It’s crazy-what happens if the Americans decide that they do not want to be part of it? “” Said Blair. “But he has been taken in many euroskept arguments.”
