Disney is changing the names of its skip-the-line passes and how they work in its Florida theme parks at the end of July.
Genie+ will be rebranded as the “Lightning Lane Multi Pass” starting July 24, Disney announced Tuesday. At the same time, the entertainment giant will begin referring to its individual Lightning Lane entry as the “Lightning Lane Single Pass.”
The updated passes will “blend features from our current services and the previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the choice to plan ahead and eliminating the hassle of planning while on vacation” in Florida, according to the Disney blog .

Disney said it sought to change both services after guests told the company they “would prefer to have the opportunity to do more planning before their day at the theme park.”

With both updated pass types, Disney hotel guests will have the option to reserve attractions up to seven days in advance for their entire trip, as long as it lasts less than two weeks, said the entertainment giant. This feature also applies to guests of some other hotels.

The early purchase window will be three days for Disney World guests not staying at eligible hotels.
Disney said the Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows Disney World guests to choose three attractions and view time slots in advance. Attractions like Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Mission: SPACE and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, according to the company.

Lightning Lane single passes will similarly display time slots before purchases. Examples of attractions where One Time Passes can be used include TRON Lightcycle, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Avatar Flight of Passage.

Disney said it will not roll out all updates to its California theme park, Disneyland.
The way Disneyland guests “purchase, select and redeem Lightning Lane passes” there “will remain the same” as today, Disney said.
Disney parks and experiences are a major source of revenue for the company.

Its national parks and experiences, which include Disney World and Disneyland, generated nearly $5.96 billion in revenue in the second quarter. National Parks and Experiences’ quarterly operating profit was $1.6 billion.
DISNEYLAND ACTORS AND PERFORMERS VOTE TO JOIN A UNION
For international parks and experiences, Disney reported revenue of $1.52 billion and operating income of $292 million for the same three-month period.
CEO Bob Iger said in May that the company was “focused on turbocharged growth with a number of long-term strategic investments” for its experiences division.
