Disney and ABC struck an FCC survey on Dei’s policies

The Federal Communications Commission Survey on ABC and Disney parent company on its actions of diversity, equity and inclusion, the president of the FCC on social networks announced on Friday.

In a letter to the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, Carr wrote that he wanted to “ensure that Disney and ABC did not violate regulations on equal opportunities for employment in promotion of discrimination invites the discrimination of Dei”.

“For decades, Disney focused on the unsubscribe of the box office and programming successes,” said the letter. “But then something has changed. Disney was now involved in controversy cycles surrounding its dei policies.”

The survey is the last climbing the repression of the Trump administration against diversity programs in private American companies. The administration has already dismantled the efforts of the DEI in the federal government, in particular the prohibition of DEI considerations during hiring, and companies – including Disney – are faced with significant pressure to change or abandon their policies on diversity.

Carr’s letter said that the policies of a few years ago “infected many aspects of decisions (of Disney)”, noting that the entertainment giant “has integrated explicit criteria based on race and sex in its operations”.

A Disney spokesman said in a statement on Friday: “We examine the letter from the Federal Commission Commission, and we are impatient to get involved with the Commission to answer his questions.”

The Trump administration does not retreat in its efforts to retreat diversity initiatives.

Carr, who was appointed by Trump, said that FCC will block mergers and acquisitions of media companies that promote dei policies.

“All the companies looking for the approval of the FCC, I encourage them to take care of finishing all kinds of their forms of dei discrimination,” said Carr in an interview with Bloomberg last week.

Federal regulators generally block corporate mergers if they harm competition or increase customer prices. They have never tried to block mergers due to human resources, legal experts and advocacy groups.

Legal experts said it is not clear what Carr heard exactly by “invites” the efforts of I or which programs ofi are illegal. But the message from the FCC chair has enormous participations for mergers and future acquisitions in the communications sector. He specifically mentioned the merger of Paramount with Skydance and the acquisition of Verizon de Frontier. The FCC also ordered an investigation into Comcast’s practices.

Although some companies have rejected the anti-dei movement, others rush to avoid the order of the Trump administration. Meta, Amazon, McDonald’s and Goldman Sachs are among the companies that have changed or returned their Policy in recent months. However, we still do not know what constitutes a program of “illegal”.
