Fairfax Co. McDonald policy
The McDonald’s on Franconia Road in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County took a significant measure to increase its security measures after several security incidents.
The popular place of the fast food chain has decided to close their interior meal to anyone under the age of 21 and will now force adults to ring a bell.
The panel published on the front door can be read as follows: “Security notice: with immediate effect. Due to the repeated incidents of students’ violence, this McDonald’s place is temporarily closed for dinner services to anyone under the age of 21. The decision was made to protect our staff, our guests and our community. ”
A recent incident in 2023 involved a shot heard in the McDonald’s bathroom. The police said that adolescents seen leaving the premises shortly after leaving the weapon that turned off were students from Edison high school nearby.
In a statement to WTop on Friday, McDonald’s said: “We like to be part of the Edison community and we appreciate each client. We have improved our security measures from Franconia Road McDonald’s in an effort to promote a safe environment for our customers and our staff. This policy is developed in partnership with a local surveillance solution.
Community reactions to new security efforts have been largely positive, many saying that they like the proactive approach adopted by McDonald’s.
“These people here are trying to serve people, and they are afraid for their lives,” said a customer in the Drive-Thru on Friday.
A customer leaving the Drive-Thru told Wop: “You must take care of the safety of your employees.”
“They must do what they have to do. If people are just going to fight there, it is logical that they will lock it,” said a customer on foot who said that he had been diverted from the interior dining room. “I ordered on the application. I tried to ring the doorbell. They just said, “Do you have over 21? And I said to myself: “No, I’m under the age of 21” and I said, “Can I eat in there?” And they said, “No.” They said I could win to go.
The panel displayed on the door says: “Adults – We are still there to serve you!” Please ring at the door, and a member of our team will help you. ”
The Drive-Thru and Mobile application is always available for everyone.
