Houston’s Rockets striker Dillon Brooks received an automatic suspension from a match after being whistled for his 16th technical fault of the season during Wednesday’s victory against Utah Jazz.
The executive vice-president of the NBA, Joe Dumars, announced the suspension on Thursday.
Brooks, who said he had hoped that the technique would be canceled by the League, will be suspended for Friday’s home match against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It has an average of 13.9 points, 3.7 assists and 1.7 assists this season.
The technique occurred only 4 minutes, 48 seconds in the game while Brooks tried to publish Collin Sexton of Utah near the basket. Brooks, Brooks turned inside to try a reversal jumper, but Sexton slipped the ball before Brooks could come out of the blow.
During the follow -up, Brooks expelled his right leg, which seemed to strike Sexton near the groin. Sexton immediately doubled in pain, while civil servants whistled a stop at stake. After a brief examination, referee Tony Brothers announced a technical fault for Brooks, causing a franc launch for Sexton.
Once a player has reached 16 technical faults, a potential suspension will increase a game for two additional techniques he receives. During the playoffs, a player will have to accumulate a total of seven technical faults before facing the suspension.
Houston won his first place in the playoff series since the 2019-20 season, becoming the second team of the Western Conference to win 50 victories.
