Defense lawyers for Sean “Diddy” Combres were attacking the star witness Thursday, the R&B singer Cassie Ventura – showing explosive texts from the jurors in which she and the rapper referred to “Freak offs” with graphic enthusiasm.
“I can’t wait to look at you,” said Combs in 2009, two years after their 11 -year relationship.
He referred to the sexual performance fueled by drugs at the center of his sex trafficking trial.
“I want you to be really hot,” replied Combs to Ventura’s text, spelling the word.
“Me too,” A Radical Ventura. “I just want it to be uncontrollable.”
The texts were displayed on screens in the Federal audience room in Manhattan where Combres fights accusations of racketeering and sex traffic which could land it in life prison.
Ventura, who is eight months pregnant, was invited several times by a defense lawyer to recite texts aloud from the stand of the witness. She did it quietly, her voice ringing almost robotic.
“I am always ready to panic Lolol,” read the singer in the Combs jury aloud, by reciting a text that she had used her blackberry to send combs on August 5, 2009.
“You tell me during the day. You choose,” Combs quickly replied, according to the text. “Name the day.”
Ventura’s husband, Alex Fine, sat in the audience audience when she was on the witness bar. As she started to read the texts, he looked at her knees. Then he moved his gaze and looked at him in the courtroom and to a large television screen with messages to the public.
Thursday is the third day of Ventura on the stand of witnesses. Anna Mr. Esteveo, the defense lawyer dealing with the counter-examination, told the judge that she expected to end on Friday.
The defense has promised to the jury of the four women, to eight men, that they will prove to the trial that the other accusers of Ventura and Combs have voluntarily participated in Freak Offs.
On other occasions, Ventura told Combs that she would prepare a piece for a planned monster.
“I go to Duane Reade to enter candles, then go home to pack a bag for us,” she said in a text message from August 2009 that combat lawyers were presented.
Other texts show that Ventura would face the combs when she felt that he did not pay her attention enough.
“When we used to panic, we were so in love,” she said in a message from December 2009.
“I am nervous that I just become the girlfriend with whom you pass your fantasy, and that’s it,” she said later in the message. “I no longer receive the other part … at least.”
In a later message, Ventura expressed her frustration that Combs did not give it priority when he traveled, which she said often happened.
“I know that you can take 3 minutes of your day to talk to me and that you do not even try,” said Ventura on the witness stand, reading aloud from a text that she sent Combres in 2010. “You are too in a hurry to get me out of the phone.”
Ventura had testified during the direct examination that even if she loved Combs, she hated Freak Offs and was only pretending to appreciate them because the meetings were often the only time she had with him.
“I was just in love and I wanted to make him happy,” said Ventura earlier in the week.
She told the jurors that she felt “worthless” joining The Freak Offs.
“I felt pretty horrible about me. I felt disgusting. I was humiliated. I did not have the words at the time to tell him what I felt,” said Ventura. “And I couldn’t tell anyone.”
