Dick Van Dyke thinks that age is indeed only a number.
The actor, who is only a few months old in his 100th birthday, opened the way his marriage to his wife, the makeup artist Arlene Silver, works – despite their vast age gap.
“We get along so well,” said Van Dyke, 99, in a new interview with People Magazine published on Monday. Silver, 53, added that the two “care so much from each other”.
“Everyone said it wouldn’t work,” said the actor.
“I mean that it is like strangely how it works,” said Silver. “People of the same age do not last.”
Van Dyke and Silver met for the first time at the 2006 Sag Awards. The actor of “Mary Poppins” said that he was so struck by the presence of Silver, he decided to take the first step.

“I have never approached a strange woman in my life,” said Van Dyke in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” last year. “And she passed and I jumped and I said,” Hi, I’m a dick. ” I didn’t know she was half my age.
The age gap of almost five decades of the two did not matter for the winner of the Emmy, who joked saying that he was “lucky to have not grown up!”
Their relationship also came so naturally that Silver and Van Dyke said that the people closest to them were happy when they officially gathered.
“We had been friends for so long that when I told people I know, they were happy (our relationship), and I was afraid,” said Silver, “and.” “I mean, the facts, our age difference. But it’s so out of words. I think that when you see us together, it’s like you don’t even think about it.”
The two were married in 2012, when Van Dyke was 86 years old and Silver was 40 years old. Van Dyke called “incredible” marital life with Silver in an interview around the two -wedding anniversary.
“This is one of the most intelligent movements I have ever taken. She makes me happy,” he told Parade in 2013. “She is very mature for her age, and I am very immature for my age, so it’s about just!”
