The Diamondbacks announced several transactions during an upheaval in the club’s enclosure mixture today. The head news is closer AJ PUK Was placed on the 15 -day injured list (retroactive on April 18) due to inflammation in his left elbow. Right Bryce Jarvis and left -handed Joe Mantiply were opposed to Triple-A, and Arizona filled these three stains of enclosure by calling the right-hander Drey Jamesonand select right -handed contracts Juan Morillo And JP Feyereen. To create a list space, the backs also designated the inner field player Grae Kessinger For assignment.
Puk excelled after the Diamondbacks acquired it from Marlins on the deadline last year, and the Southpaw continued this year by posting a 3.38 MPM in eight rounds this season. Even with the advantage of an absurd rate of 97.6%, PUK saved its work with an excellent withdrawal rate of 34.3%and a walking rate of 5.7%. In addition to all the swings and failed, Puk does not allow much hard contact when his offers find a bat, and he has closed his four backup chances this season.
Unfortunately, his solid departure has now been interrupted by a trip to the IL. Puk’s history of injuries (which include Tommy John surgery) puts an additional focus on any disease related to the elbow, although there is no indication at this stage that his current problem is something other than inflammation. Assuming no structural damage, PUK could be able to return after a minimum of 15 days, although it is only a question of the duration of the discomfort of the elbow continues to linger.
Seth Martinez is now the most likely to intensify candidate as the closest new, with Shelby Miller And Beeks Jalen Continue in high -level configuration roles. Beeks is also the only southern puck of the Arizona Liberals enclosure now that Mantiply has been sent to Reno.
The defeat of Slugfest 13-11 of Arizona against the Cubs yesterday saw Jarvis and Mantiply loaded with three points deserved each, each lifter throwing two thirds of the sleeves. Triple-A demotions can allow the two launchers to come together after a difficult start to their seasons, while the backs can put some fresher arms in the enclosure of the lifts. This means that Jameson is now online to make his first appearance of the MLB since the 2023 season, Feyereisen will do his debut on the backs after having signed a minor league agreement with the team in March, and Morillo should make his debut in the major league after eight professional seasons.
Jameson launched for the last time in a big league match on July 6, 2023, when he underwent Tommy John surgery in September which cost him the entire 2024 campaign. The 34th overall choice of the 2019 draft had displayed a 2.63 in 65-round MPMs in the 2022-23 seasons, starting seven of the 19 games, but playing mainly In a rescue role as the season of the 2023 season progresses before his UCL injury. The right-hander has worked exclusively from Triple-A pen this season, and he has an MPM of 2.70 out of 6 2/3 rounds in Reno while recording 11 sticks to the stick against Zero Walks.
Now, it’s back in good health, Jameson can resume his career and perhaps carving out a firm place for him in the enclosure of Arizona. He showed a little promise as a multi-manche lifter, because his past history as a starter gave him an additional durability coming out of the pen. The backs could try to deploy Jameson as a long man or a swingman, leaving him at least to obtain sleeves to his credit before perhaps trying it for a higher effect.
Morillo, 26, spent his entire career in the Dodgers organization before joining the backs as a free agent of the minor league in November. Beginning in Triple-A this season, Morillo launched 6 1/3 rounds of 1.42 ball to Reno, with a withdrawal rate of 29.6%, a walking rate of 7.4% and an enormous group rate of 68.8% to start. The latter number even stands out in the middle of the story of Morillo as a floor ball launcher, and the solid walking rate is also remarkable given his control problems earlier in his career as a minor league.
Between his high speed, his withdrawal potential and his ability to keep the ball on the ground, there is a lot to love about Morillo if he can find the consistency that has escaped him for a good part of the career of his minors. He will have the chance to show what he can do against MLB strikers during what could be a cup of coffee in the big leagues, according to how Arizona chooses to align his enclosure beyond this weekend.
Feyereisen has an MPM of 2.95 during his 100 2/3 career rounds in the majors, which covers Seasons Four parts with the Brewers, Rays and Dodgers of 2020-24. Feyereisen had a solid number in 2021 and seemed to be bursting as a high effect lift in the enclosure of tampa lifts in 2022 before a shoulder injury led to a surgical intervention which cost him all the 2023 season.
Resturfacing in Los Angeles last year, he had an MPM of 8.18 in 11 rounds at the level of the big league, because Feyereisen had clearly still rust of his long layout. His MPM of 0.96 in 9 1/3 innings in Reno this season is much more promising, and it was enough to give a shot to Feyereisen with another team of NL West while he finally seeks to settle for a regular enclosure work.
Kessinger played everywhere in the inner field in a safeguard capacity with the Astros during the seasons 2023-24, appearing in 48 games in total and striking .131 / .243 / .213 in 70 plates appearances. His triple-a-slash line career of .268 / .370 / .401 is much more impressive on paper, if it is undermined by the fact that these apparently solid figures are barely average in the League of the Pacific Coast for strikers.
The DiamondBacks acquired Kessinger in a trade in January, but he had not yet seen any action on the list of major Arizona leagues, and his mandate with the organization could already be completed if claimed on derogations or exchanged. Kessinger’s trade with Arizona has in fact come after the Astros previously appointed it, so that history can repeat itself if another team to the needs of Champs sells. If Kessinger gives off derogations and is overcoming the list of 40 men, he must accept the mission because he does not have MLB service time or a past which would allow him to opt for the Libre Agency.
