Diablo 4 fans have reported having major lag issues that even caused them to lose characters in Hardcore mode. Here’s what the Diablo 4 community is talking about.
Diablo 4 Season of Blood introduced a fair number of gameplay updates and bug fixes that attempted to address major issues reported by players. But even with less than a month until Season 2 ends, fans are still complaining about lag affecting their games, even when playing single-player.
Blizzard’s decision to push for discounts and free trials of Diablo 4 during the holiday season appears to have made the problem worse. Players reported losing multiple characters due to major lag episodes, and even said some endgame challenges were almost “impossible” to play.
“That might be stupid. Lag, bungees, and disconnects can be ridiculously bad. In the middle of an event, if I press certain keys, such as “e”, “i”, etc., my game sometimes freezes. I also don’t like it when the game lags or freezes when I move from one area to another,” commented Redditor “JBurke2079,” in a post titled “How the hell did Diablo 4 have to gap ? “.
A Diablo 4 fan started the post by asking why a single-player campaign couldn’t just take place offline, and that lag had ruined an event where they spent gear that cost hours to work on. “I just spent a few nights saving up 150 blood lures and lost the fight after summer due to unplayable lag, guns not firing and I was bouncing all over the place,” said Reddit user ‘Mangy_DogUK ‘.

While some were adamant that Blizzard’s latest ARPG is meant to be played as a multiplayer game, other users pointed out that interactions between groups were “forced” and that everything in the game, including activities endgame, discouraged multiplayer features.
Most players explained that playing with hardcore characters had become painful due to increased lag issues and said that they had tried every technical solution to fix the problem: “I have this problem and I realized my hard drive was old, I switched to SSD and there it is… the lag is still there,” commented Redditor “Skarbenix”.
However, most users pointed out that Blizzard is known for having major lag issues around the holidays and that this was made worse by a new group of players who started playing after Diablo 4 sold on Steam. “It’s that time of year, there are a lot of people at home. So… a lot of people are playing the game. Well, Blizzard servers just don’t have the power…” summed up user “TrueKalak”.
And this is the reason why Diablo 4 players are furious giving up because of lag issues in Season 2. If you want to know more about the game, check out what great Diablo 4 cheats fans have shared to maximize damage and what inventory issues caused players to leave Blizzard’s latest ARPG.
