Development: Gunshots were reported during a football game at Richfield High School

RICHFIELD, Minn. — A heavy police presence is in the Richfield High School area after reports of a shooting during a football game on Friday night.

WCCO spoke to a witness, Laurie Franklin, who said two shots were heard from across the football field. After the shots, people on the opposite side of the pitch were fleeing the stands.

Franklin said the stadium was evacuated and medical personnel ran to where the shots were coming from.

Another witness, Donta Ellis, said he saw one – possibly two – people with gunshot wounds.

The Richfield Spartans faced Bloomington Kennedy in a match that started at 7 p.m.
