ST. Louis (AP) Spencer Torkelson achieved a pair of safe blows, walked twice and took place in a race to help the Tigers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 Wednesday for the 15th victory of Detroit in his last 20 games.
Brant Hurter gave a safe blow in three-roundless rounds during his second career departure, and Chase Lee (1-0) followed with two goalless rounds to win his first victory in the major league while the Tigers used six launchers in an enclosure match.
Andre Pallante (4-3) granted three points and four strokes and four steps in 5 2/3 rounds for his first home defeat since September 10, 2024, against Cincinnati.
Willson Contreras had a simple RBI to focus on Brenan Hanifee to mark Victor Scott II in sixth round and reduced the Strait advance to 3-1.
The tigers added two points in the eighth on the sacrificial fly of Trey Sweeney and the single RBI of Javier Báez.
In the fourth, Torkelson bordered a double towards the warning track on the center of the center right which rebounded on the glove of Jordan Walker to mark Riley Greene and extend the advance of the Tigers to 2-0.
Pallante launched a walk in Torkelson and Greene before Colt Keith got up on the left field at the top of the sixth to end the day of Pallante. Dillon Dingler caressed a simple on the left field of Phil Maton to put the tigers in mind 3-0.
St. Louis lost by more than one race for the first time since he fell in the New York 9-3 Mets at home on May 2.
Tigers: Open a Homestand of seven games Thursday evening with RHP Jack Flaherty (2-5, 2.67 ERA) against Cleveland RHP Tanner Bibee (3-4, 4.06).
Cardinals: RHP Miles Mikolas (3-2, 3.77 ERA) opposes Arizona RHP ZAC GALLEN (3-5, 5.14) during the opening of a series of three games on Friday evening.
