San Jose – An inmate died during the weekend at San Jose main prison, according to the authorities.
The deputies found that the detainee did not respond to his cell at 5:07 p.m. on Saturday, the Santa Clara County Sheriff said in a press release. Medical staff arrived at prison at 5:20 p.m. and said the dead inmate about 25 minutes later.
An investigation is underway, but the first results do not suggest any signs of unfair play, according to the authorities.
The detainee, identified on Monday only as a 56 -year -old man, was reserved Friday on several pending mandates, in particular being a criminal in possession of a firearm, leading under influence and having drug accessories, said the sheriff’s office.
According to the standard procedure, the Sheriff’s office investigates the case with the offices of the district prosecutor and the chief doctor, according to the authorities.
Death in detention is the second of the county year. Last year, 10 detainees died.
