Cleveland, Ohio – Deshaun Watson made a solid statement on Instagram on Tuesday, one day after the comment “Big Swing and A Miss” by Jimmy Haslam became viral on social networks.
“Maybe if I was not built for that, I would leave it phase …”, wrote Watson, accompanied by “Shock Da World” by Rod Wave.
The post presented 20 photos of Watson – always carrying his straight walking boot – working hard at the Browns training center in Berea to return from his re -rayonné Achilles, which was repaired again in January. Although it will miss an important part of the season and will never suit me again at the Browns, Watson is determined to return to the match after his second Achilles operation since November.
His agent, David Mulugheta, answered Watson post: “They hate you, so they love you so they hate you again. This is why you never live for applause. Lock 4!”
The message came a day after Haslam, addressing a small group of Browns Beat Writers, notably Cleveland.com at the NFL annual meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, admitted that Watson’s trade with the Texans was an epic failure.
“Well, I mean, let’s approach the elephant in the room,” said Haslam. “We took a big swing and missed with Deshaun. We thought we had the quarter-Arrière, we did not do it and we abandoned a lot of draft choice to obtain it. So we have to get out of this hole. “
The Browns sold a net of five choices, including three rounds for Watson, then signed it for an extension of five years worth $ 230 million, the first and the only fully guaranteed contract in the history of the NFL. Although trade is not the idea of Haslam, it came with the guaranteed pact that did it. However, he was full of blame.
“Listen, I said it several times,” he said, “Deshaun Watson was an entire organizational decision and it ends with Dee (Haslam) and I, so keep us responsible.”
Dee Haslam attributed the disappointing result to the two end-of-season injuries of Watson: the shoulder fractured in 2023 and the Achilles broken in 2024. The injuries cut off its last two seasons after six and seven departures, respectively, and the Browns were 1-6 with it at the head of a new dysfunctional offense last season.
“I mean that the player was injured and so it was an unusual situation,” she said. “I think there were a lot of unusual situations, but really bad injuries when a player has this kind of bad injuries, it is really regrettable for him and regrettable for our organization.”
Is there a world in which he again takes a cliché for the Browns?
“He had three horrible injuries in what, a period of 15 months, right?” Said Jimmy. “Surprise, tear his Achilles and re-evaluates his Achilles. I think that the accent is put on making it so and how long does it take and when can it be healthy? So, this is the main thing on which we focus.”
Is there something that can be recovered from this failed business?
“Let’s go healthy, then we will see,” said Dee Haslam.
At the rate, Watson goes, it could be from October or November.
