Derek Chisora claims he knows who Anthony Joshua is fighting next, and it’s not Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk

Derek Chisora has let slip who he thinks Anthony Joshua will fight next.

‘Del Boy’ claims AJ will box the winner of Daniel Dubois vs. Filip Hrgovic at Wembley Stadium when he returns to the ring later this year.

Of course, this is coming from a man who isn’t directly involved in planning Joshua’s career path, even though Chisora is close friends with AJ and is currently represented by his management company, 258 MGT.

“He will face the winner Daniel Dubois and (Filip) Hrgovic at Wembley (stadium),” Chisora told iFL TV.

Dubois and Hrgovic are set to face off on a blockbuster card on June 1 alongside Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev, as well as Deontay Wilder vs. Zhilei Zhang in the Queensberry vs Matchroom 5-on-5 event.

It is unclear whether the fight will be for the IBF belt which is expected to be vacated following the undisputed showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk on May 18.

The IBF is the next step in the heavyweight sanctioning body rotation system and is expected to order its mandatory challenger, Hrgovic, to next face the winner of the four-belt showdown.

However, the heavyweight titans have a signed rematch clause in their contract, so it is unlikely they will be able to accept the IBF’s appeal.

The IBF has already confirmed it will withdraw the winner of the undisputed fight if it proceeds to a second fight, and will instead order Hrgovic to fight the next highest-ranked boxer for the vacant title.

Currently it is Joshua, who is in third place in the IBF rankings with the second place unoccupied.

Dubois is 20-2 with 19 wins by knockout

Meanwhile, Dubois sits in fourth place with the sanctioning body.

Joshua recently revealed that his next release would be in June or July.

However, if Chisora’s claims prove true, it is more likely that he will box in September.

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, revealed last month that he was planning to organize a big show at Wembley Stadium in September.

“I’m talking, thinking and studying with Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn about doing something huge at Wembley in September, like a commercial for the Riyadh season,” he said.

One of the few fighters capable of selling out all 90,000 spots would be AJ, so it would make sense for him to headline this card.
